Removing the Bandage

Your bandage should remain in place for a minimum of 1-2 hours, but can be left on for up to 8 hours.

Always wash your hands with Antimicrobial/Antibacterial soap before touching your tattoo.

After removing the bandage wash your tattoo with warm water and antimicrobial/antibacterial soap using only your clean hands (no wash cloth, sponges, or other items should be used on a fresh tattoo).

Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel and let it air out and breath for 24 hours. The ointment used during the bandaging process will provide plenty of moisture to your new tattoo so there will be no need to moisturize after your first wash. You can apply moisturizer when your skin begins to feel tight and dry, it is important not to over moisturize in the first couple days.

How to Care for Your Healing Tattoo

During the next few weeks your main tasks are to keep your new tattoo clean and moisturized.

To do this you will need two things.

  • Liquid Antimicrobial / Antibacterial soap ; tattoo specific products of dial gold hand soap are best but any antibacterial soap that is both fragrance free and dye free will be okay. DO NOT USE BAR SOAP

  • Lotion ; again, tattoo specific products are always best for the healing process but any plain white lotion that is fragrance free and dye free will be safe to use to moisturize your tattoo. I do not recommend Aquaphor or any petroleum based moisturizers for healing tattoos, these products clog pores and do not allow for proper breathability for a wound to heal.

At least twice a day you will need to clean your tattoo using warm water and antimicrobial/antibacterial soap. Once in the morning and once at night is usually enough. Over washing can irritate your tattoo, so more than twice a day in not needed unless you do something that will get your tattoo dirty such as working outside, getting sweaty at the gym, etc.

After washing your tattoo, pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow to air dry before applying a small amount of lotion to the tattoo and rubbing it in as you normally would when applying moisturizer. When applied properly there should be no lotion left sitting on top of the skin and no visible wetness on the tattoo.

Only apply enough lotion to keep your tattoo from getting dried out and crispy. Too much lotion can be harmful, but too little lotion will cause zero damage to your tattoo so when in doubt, less is more.

Continue keeping your tattoo clean and moisturized until your skin has fully healed, and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions and/or concerns you have during the healing process.

After You Heal

The healing process can be unpredictable as everyone's skin and immune system are different. To remedy this all tattoos are guaranteed with one free touchup, as long as the given aftercare instructions are followed.

If when your tattoo is healed anything did not heal as expected please contact to schedule a free touchup valid up to one year from your original appointment.

Once your tattoo has fully healed it is important to remember that UV rays will fade the ink in your skin over time. Always wear SPF30 sunscreen or higher is whenever your tattoo will be exposed to direct sunlight to keep it looking as bright and bold as possible.

Things to Avoid
  • No swimming (chlorine and saltwater pools are equally harmful), hot tubs, beaches, or baths until your tattoo is fully healed. You can shower as normal, running water over your tattoo is okay but you want to avoid fully submerging it in water until fully healed.

  • No direct sunlight; being out in direct sunlight should be avoided at all costs. long sleeves, pants, closed shoes, etc. should be worn to keep your tattoo out of the sun until fully healed.

  • Do Not pick or scratch your new tattoo. Itching is a natural sign and result of a healthy healing process, you can apply lotion to sooth any itching while your tattoo heals. You will also see a peel or flaking happen as your skin heals itself, do no pick or scratch your tattoo as this can pull ink that is trying to settle between the new layers of skin that is growing over your new tattoo.
